No condition removal. Veil of Thorns and Armour of Sanctity and Vital Boon?

Oh, and no Guardian in 4v4 maps is bad.

This build works well in theory, but in practice you will have some SERIOUS energy management issues. Also, it's easy to strip enchants, making all that energy you spent completely worthless....

its bad. the whole idea of conditioning melees for the damage reduction with sanctity is cute but gaurdian could easily replace all those skills

you dont need vital boon/cop you really need veil instead or the bad vor meta mesmers will rape you

+ patient is alot better than whisper

just try it out before u judge

vital is just there for health and for contemplation of purity... so far hex spams hasnt stopped me

energy is managable if u dont spam

i tried patient but its extended i believe from the 20 enchant...too slow of a heal

its been easy to get away from sins and becuz of weakness and the - damage they hit u for almost 0 all the time with a normal attk....

seriously i would like it if u guys test it before judging it

energy stripping has been a problem but i have been able to pull it off with long battles

my monk hp is at 550 and energy is at 48 with the regular 4 regen

you have 5 skills that will only target yourself. What happens if they kill your team before they kill you? Also, it'll be almost impossible to keep up with the amount of damage thrown at your team with just 2 heals and cure hex. Since I refuse to try this build out, I will give you the benefit of the doubt in having only 550 life in an arena with all that damage reduced in there. I've seen the basics of this build in a RA before which appeared to do decently but I think it is far from optimal.

Alright, I'll break it down here.

More health is good, but what about conditions? All you're doing is spamming heals on people, instead of using a simple Guardian which is much better. Also this is a selfish skill.

Quote:

That all depends on the enemy pressure. If the pressure is large, you have to spam, but with Guardian you make it easier to keep pressure away.

You have four weaponsets. Use them.

The damage from 'Sins comes from their attack skills.

Any? as in any of those? or any in general?

Shield base, Return, Dark Escape, etc. are all viable for RA/TA--and all are "selfish". Further, "selfish" skills are necessary in 4 v 4 engagements.

As for the OPS build: it stinks:

Come across too much pressure and you're team is toast. Run into enchant removal (rend enchantments, etc) and you're toast. Face an average interrupt ranger and you are toast. One well placed diversion and no more healing.

But what I dislike most about it is that it promotes lazy monking. Basically spam enchants on yourself, and tank the pressure. You will never improve as a monk playing builds like this.

Learn to kite, learn to bring poactive skills: spirit bond, gaurdian, holy veil. Of course, the current meta in RA/TA isn't anything that will improve you're monkey skills. Too much dbl stance with spam heals. Too much reactive.

I respect people llike you that have there own ideas for builds
and don't just wiki everything

but in the end its what works the most effictivly is what your gonna use

and this is not the most effective build

and the most effective builds are

mo/war WoH stances w/ shield bash

Mo/sin return WoH

or Mo/War Healer's covnant ( this is only good with a good monk)

I don't see why you would take any of them when you could have guardian.

I don't mean this as a dig at all, but RA/TA much?

And yes you should always pack Gaurdian. You bring stances for:

KD chains, Enchant stripping, Interrupt ranger camping your Guardian attempts, etc.

Now if you are talking GvG or HA, yeah, you don't need a stance--but, that is because you have a 2 monk backline, not too mention midline members that shutdown the opposition.

Thats a lot of wasted effort just for CoP when something like a well placed rof could also work very easily and not have to worry about enchant stripping.

Depending on what you come across, there are builds that can literally make you burn through all your energy in under a 30 second window, and the rest of your team dies in the process. Way too much reliance on healing, no real reliance on protection. Far Far too energy inefficient for my taste as a monk.

Swap to a weapon set without an enchanting mod. f1-f4 keys. they work great. Anyone using a 20% enchanting mod and using patient spirit at the same time should be slapped, no offense.

I just spent a little over an hour testing this, and I will honestly tell you that there are situation where this build did work ok, but those were few and far between. A standard WoH/guardian/sheild bash monk would outlast this and be much easier on the player and the team due to its survivability.

Energy stripping is always a problem for monks, and this build has almost 0 energy management and is very inefficient at using the energy it does provide.

If you are EVER PvP'ing with your monk, you should never be below 600 hp. You preferably want to sit in a sword and shield set inbetween casting which will net you around 620-630 health depending on your rune setups. From this i can tell you either didn't have much of a vigor rune on or that you were wearing a sup or 2 majors, or you stayed in your staff or 40/40 set the majority of the time. Very bad choice in monking, especially when you are the only monk on the team as you will often be in a 4v4 situation such as ra/ta...

In short, the conclusion to this is that the build fails compared to other builds and yes while trying to be creative and find a new and different monk bar to use in the PvP scene, this one falls short in a few areas.
